CUARLFC 96 Brunel Uni 0
The game against Brunel Uni was billed as Cambridge A and with 9 varsity squad players rested it was a chance for other players to stake a claim to a squad place in this last game before varsity.Brunel have resurrected the sport after over four years of not having league played there and have had a tough season in the London/South division but there are signs of a good team spirit and they will build from this season. The game was at a speed and tempo that Brunel were struggling to contend with and the speed of the transfer from ruck to edge was catching them out with regularity.Trys were being well constructed and with players flooding through on breaks it was good to see a clinical and ruthless edge to the team.
When Brunel had the ball the collision was causing them to turn over ball and gifting the lions possession and field position which they used to great effect.
Final Score CUARLFC 96 Brunel 0
Coach Evans was happy with the attitude of the players , some of whom having never played in the positions before , “ We had a look at players today for the interchange possibilities and also interchangeability of roles within the team.We had the luxury of being able to rest players for this game and also to fit in with the criteria of the game so we now look forward to the next seven days of preparation and getting ready for the challenge of Oxford.“
